OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING: November 24th, 2009

Oh What A Beautiful Day!

Tonight is the first night, Wednesday, of the Queen Vic Night Market. I’ve got butterflies… and I don’t believe a whole year has passed since we did it last year. The weather is on our side and we have some new practitioners who are going to be with us on the stall. We will have to show the ropes — what to do when all you lovely people come rushing in at once :)

So here’s the goss:

The Old Hands: ME of course, Essential Oils Black Belt :) specializing in relief of pain, anxiety and promoting deep sleep! What we all need while we are rushing around busy busy busy for Xmas (or not as the case may be).

Dear DOROTHY DOUGLASS, who is putting down her Shiatsu cap, and donning her oils on. Ask her for aid if you are experiencing pain and stress. Dorothy and I have known each other for years (24?) since I attended her shiatsu classes that many years ago… she was one of first shiatsu practitioners and co-founder of one of the colleges.

CLAIRE HEYWOOD, kinesiology practitioner who brings so much more to the table, another old friend (but young in spirit), who is specializing in chakra and DNA healing. Many is the time that I’ve rung Claire and implored her for a distance healing (after Hal broke his neck recently when we were travelling in LA). Needless to say, Hal is fine… only a tiny crick still to work out (oh if we would just consistently use the oils I recommend).

DIANNE SHOOBRIDGE is the way to your tummy. Raw food expert and detox expert. We know each other since forever and she has always been able to whip up something from nothing and make it taste exotic. She will show you how to incorporate Therapeutic Grade Essential oils into food and into healing.

JACK WANAT is the King of the Valor Balance. Let him take your worries away as he applies Valor to your feet to bring the body back into balance and to increase energy. Take advantage of his inexhaustible knowledge on the p’s and q’s of attending to a healthy lifestyle.

NEW ON THE TEAM

MICHELLE SOO — Oh yes, Kinesiology and Oils, and NLP practitioner extraordinaire. All you need is one session with her and your life will turn another corner!

MURRAY GOODCHILD — Japanese Acupunturist, and a damn fine healer who runs workshops on toning for healing. A muscian to boot, he has just released a new CD. Amazing.

(Next Post I’ll have more on new-to-the-stand Oilers, Penny and Justine)

My Nose is Itchy: November 2nd, 2009

Another of those perfect days inspite of all the imperfections like my incredibly itchy nose. There’s something so undignified about an itchy nose. Jelena came over to help me with the possibility of turning my life into a database. We had fun. We even went for a walk after… she made everything seem so simple.

I kept licking the peppermint oil and it usually helps… but what did eventually, was a large salad full of greens. Plus some Myrrh oil slapped around the nostrils.

Also, had another wonderful yoga session at Vicky’s at the Yoga Yurt, a kriya for self-love. Felt so good to do be doing this after a New Agey kind of event that I had been invited to.

Oh — this Wed at my place is the drop-in night for another trance-porting evening with the oils. Topic: Anxiety/Hormones

Running Meridians at Woodend: September 25th, 2009

Last Sunday, Jan Sullivan was kind enough to organize a workshop at her place in Woodend. She had Rose Oil diffusing in her UltraSonic diffuser so we were all blasted into outer vibrational space as we walked in the door.

I was nervous about finding my way to Woodend but I arrived in one piece. We did a little bit of everything. Lots of information — things I pick up on the fly during my treatments, Valor Balances, getting people familiar with checking oil safety data for pregnancy (one of the group was…) and other conditions, a mini-Raindrop demo, a sound meditation, and of course–the running of the meridians using a variety of oils, and finishing with a sound/affirmation meditation.

Quite a few givers of a Valor Balance were astounded at the difference they felt when I used 3 Wise Men on the crown chakra while they were working away.

The next round of Workshops will be in Melbourne — next week Wednesday, 30th Sept, at the BoxHill Tafe 7 to 9 pm and at my place on Wed 7th Oct (pre-requisite is the BoxHill Health Arts session). More later.

An aside: Karen Krouse, my wonderful Pilates teacher, passed this link on to me about water bottles and yuccky plastic containing BPA, an estrogen-mimicking chemical used to make hard plastics and epoxy resins, found in numerous products that you probably use every day. Check the article out here.

Another aside: Can you believe it hailed today? I had to put some Idaho Balsam Fir on my adrenals to pick me up and do a little yoga to remain upstanding for the day.

HOW GOOD IS THIEVES!: April 24th, 2009

My brother is schizophrenic. I’ve gone down the path of alternative healing and really got places. But it came to a point that he said to me — I don’t want to be well if it means I have to take vitamins and eat properly. So I withdrew. However, I do help look after his ‘needs’ — and yesterday he rang, saying that his tooth had an abcess, the side of his face was inflamed, and HELP! He was going to knock the tooth out himself, he threatened (himself). I happened to be at my sister’s place, and she gave me about an 1/8th of a bottle of Theives Essential Oil, plus some Inner Defence (Enteric-coated oils with Thieves in it — not available in Aust yet… I got it sent from the UK by my other sister).

I told my brother to keep it out of his eyes. And got him to take 1 capsule every 2 hrs (there were 5 caps). I was worried that he did not have anything to eat in the house but I was stressed by the number of things I needed to do for a spOil Me Day (Essential Oils Event for Users Only) and I was picking up Dr Carolyn De Marco from the airport (I did proceed to get throughly lost in the process by taking the exit to Sunbury — requiring the Grounding Oils). So I asked my sister to take something down, soft. She remembered my request only late in the evening so she rang to find out what he might need — and he said — I’m totally fine now… I went out and did some fencing with a friend and I’ve only just got in.

I was amazed and appreciative!

Diffusing Palo Santo / Sleep / Magnesium Sources: April 3rd, 2009

I don’t know how to report on the exact effects of diffusing Palo Santo during the evening. It’s become a bit of a routine after I started doing this in early March during a weekend my husband was away running a food stall at the World Music Festival in Adelaide. I was preparing for the Equinox, eating well and preparing for a detox, lots of leafy green for liver/gall bladder, receiving a couple of Raindrop treatments as well as giving them. So I had the idea with diffusing Palo Santo in the evening using the YLEO cold diffuser.

Not only did I sleep well, the quality of my sleep was different. I recall hearing Gary Young say something about using it as part of a treatment of a client with a serious lung ailment, and at that time thinking that I’d inhale the oil directly a few times a day if I got a flu or cold. I did feel my lungs kept a lot clearer and I would bring up mucus in the morning.

Every now and then, I do use the Sleep Patches and occasionally these don’t work… I think I need to have more Magnesium/Calcium in the body, something I’m at work on–remember this could well be part of a hormonal balance issue. An Epsom Salt footbath helps. Sometimes I get up and have a footbath and read a bit in the kitchen while that’s happening and forty minutes later I’ve put some lavender or whatever else I muscle-test for, or intuit, and I’m having the most fabulous sleep ever.

Anyway, I was checking up online on Magnesium sources and absorption and came across a page and another. You do have to wade through conflicting info. Also, I try to avoid pages that are put up by govt bodies, drug companies, or similar.

YLEO has a good supplement, Cal/Mag but that’s not available in Australia yet.

An except from another online site:

Best Dietary Sources
Many foods are rich in magnesium. Good sources include fish and seafood, including bluefish, carp, cod, flounder, halibut, herring, mackerel, ocean perch, shrimp, and swordfish; fruits and fruit juice; leafy green vegetables; dairy products; nuts, including almonds; molasses; soybeans; sunflower seeds; wheat germ; and snails.

One-half cup of dry soybeans contains 278 milligrams of magnesium; 1/2 pound of spinach provides 200 milligrams. One-half of a medium avocado contains 51 milligrams; 1 cup of bottled grape juice has 30 milligrams, a cup of skim milk or buttermilk 34 milligrams, a cup of ice cream 19 milligrams.

Essential Oils at the Queen Vic Night Market (2nd Wed ‘08): December 5th, 2008

Those who came through our stall last Wednesday may find it interesting to find out more about the Essential Oils that were used that night.

I usedValor Essential Oil on the feet to help balance the adrenal glands and for spinal alignment. It is a blend of Rosewood, Blue Tansy, Frankincense and Spruce in Sweet Almond carrier oil. It can be diffused, inhaled and added to bath water. Apply to wrists, chest, and base of neck. We used it in a simple technique called a Valor Balance on the feet. This treatment can be self-administered in the following fashion: Allow 3 or more drops to fall on the left palm and circle gently clockwise with the right. Cross your hands and hold the oiled hands to the soles of the feet. Become aware of the sensations on the palm of the hand. When the surface of your palm changes temperature, or you experience tingling or an ‘electric’ feeling, wait for the sensation to equalize on both hands. This is a Valor Balance. I do it in the morning after my shower to wake up, and in the evening to promote deep sleep.

Other things I find useful for ensuring a great night’s rest: Take Magnesium, especially at night. Australian soils are depleted of Magnesium so a supplement can be necessary. I have just started using AlkaMax from Direct Health — I got it at the Mind Body Spirit in Melbourne — and I’m experimenting with its efficacy. So far, I have found YL Essential Oils’s AlkaLime to be a great product. Since YLEO is an MLM company, I am quoting below the Wholesale price of any recommended YL Essential Oils (Add 24% approx for retail).

Valor Essential Oil: $29.50

AlkaLime: $29.95

Other oils that were used that evening at Queen Vic – were Ylang Ylang (AUS 50.00), Joy ($52.00), Panaway ($44.50), Peace&Calming ($44.50). The Tranquil Roll-On ($32.00) was great for relaxing and the Deep Relief Roll-On ($27.75) was for pain relief.

Back to my helpful hints for a great night’s sleep — The LifeWave Sleep Patch (Use after doing the recommended Energy Detox), A YL Essential Oil Blend called RutaVala ($44.50 for 5ml), plus of course, Lavender ($30.75) (At the moment, YLEO is subsidising the cost of Lavender for its Wholesale Account Holders) which is nice. From what I’ve heard on the grapevine, there is more demand than supply of ‘true’ unadulterated lavender that has been grown in good soil. Epsom Salt Baths are also useful since they contain Magnesium and they are cheaply available at your local supermarket. Finally — adding turkey to the diet gives you a natural source of L-Tryptophan. For many years L-tryptophan was the nutritional supplement of choice for chronic insomnia and depression. Those that have tried L-tryptophan can attest to its benefits. The wonderful effect that tryptophan has on both mood and sleep may be because the body naturally converts tryptophan into both serotonin and melatonin. Serotonin levels affects mood and melatonin affects sleep.

Use the details for YLEO on my ‘About’ page if you want to find out how to order product and to get my email.

On the 20th of Dec in Melbourne, in BoxHill’s Health Arts College, we are holding a demo where attendees get to participate in finding out more about YL Essential Oils and be guided in giving healing treatments to each other. You may find it fun to attend with a friend and share the experience. More details on request.
